Having recently graduated from the University of Westminster with a BA (hons) degree in Architecture, I am looking to start a career in the art department within the screen industries, combining my passion for both architecture and film, applying the creative design and technical skills that I have learnt during my course at university.
I was born and raised in Brazil, where I began my studies in Architecture and Urban Planning and later worked in an internship at the Federal Fluminense University in Niteroi, Brazil in collaboration with UN-Habitat. I was part of a multidisciplinary team working on research and land regularisation projects for informal settlements in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
I later relocated to London, where I continued my undergraduate degree in Architecture at the University of Westminster. Towards the end of my third year at university, I took part in a two-week internship at the architecture practice Morris+Company, where I assisted in an affordable and specialist housing development project located in Dagenham. I contributed by designing options for the massing arrangement and interior layout of the specialist units for residents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This involved carrying out research on the specific needs of the residents and as a result I was able to produce a variety of design options which took them into account and presented them to the team for feedback. Being able to not only observe, but participate in the development process in a working practice was a fantastic opportunity, giving me a tangible insight into what the profession entails.
I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in a co-production workshop in partnership with Imperial College London medical students on a hypothetical project to design an alternative family therapy room for the NHS. The decisions made during the development of the project were based on working with stakeholders and medical practitioners, aiming to incorporate their inputs into the final design and have the most beneficial impact on future patients and medical staff. Working with teams of different disciplines was incredibly valuable.
While studying architecture, it was always important for me to try to tell a story with my work. Through drawings, collages and models, I want to communicate a sense of atmosphere within the spaces I design.
Since graduating, I have been taking online courses in order to better understand how I can transfer my skills to working in the art department on Film and TV productions.
I have working experience of AutoCad, SketchUp, Rhino and various Adobe Creative Suite applications including PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator. I bring with me an enthusiastic attitude and a desire to work within a team, striving to bring narratives to life and create worlds that audiences can become immersed in.
